kind of outfits do guys find cute
2025 fashion
Readers, I can't spend a day talking about lace and taffeta without flipping through wedding invitations. Instead, I want to talk about men's accessories.
I was shopping online for patterns last night when I found this incredible new men's pattern line. I can't wait to make the cute plaid shirt on top and the pea coat in the middle. And how about that fabulous messenger bag!
Then, from a different pattern company, I found this classic chambray shirt with shorts:
Then again, Burda is responsible for this too. I shudder.
Guys, how hard would it be for a pattern company to make some great patterns? We're not reinventing the wheel here: we're talking pants, shirts, vests, jackets. Style it to look hip, hire a model. Don't have her pose next to a little six-year-old. Can you see the difference?
Seriously. I can't speak for every man or woman who sews for guys, but I would be thrilled to find patterns for some of the outfits posted here, which by the way are from J. Crew and Woolrich Woolen Mills -- nothing avant-garde, no men in corsets or Pee Wee Herman suits. Scour any fashion magazine or men's style blog and you'll see the same thing.
Lands' End and L.L. Bean both have "hip" fashion lines that use the same fabrics and styles as their main brands, but cut and style them in a more contemporary (slim) way. Why can't pattern companies do the same?
I'm not one to grumble and I understand the economics involved. But there's a potential market of young men out there who care about how they look and can't afford to draft for themselves or tinker with vintage patterns. Are we investing in the future or not?
Readers, what do you think about this?
How can we do this?
